Overview

The Customer Account Representative (CAR) will support Dole Packaged Foods to achieve maximum resolution on the customer deductions process while maintaining excellent broker/customer relations; timely apply cash receipts to the customer’s account; all amounts recovered directly impact the company’s earnings.

Responsibilities

CASH APPLICATION

  • Ensure proper cash application procedures and policies are followed
  • Process daily cash deposits received in the company lockbox
  • Reconcile cash application issues caused by the cash preprocessor

SHORT PAY PROCESSING/RESOLUTION

  • Work with broker to research short pays to determine the type of short pay, the support needed to process and/or clear the short pay, and validate when a short pay is authorized
  • Follow procedures and policies relative to short pay processing/resolution
  • Communicate efficiently, both verbally and written, with broker, sales, and customer, using a customer service and results oriented focus
  • Assist when needed with the resolution and analysis of unauthorized short pays
  • Work with internal sales team and broker network to reduce the number and frequency of unauthorized short pays
  • Reconciliation of credit memos and unapplied cash
  • Facilitate broker related TPM (trade promotion management) inquiries related to short pays
  • Provide open short pay reports/analysis as needed
  • Process and validate direct/indirect payments through TPM
  • Provide evaluations relative to customer, channel, or broker related short pay analysis
  • Supports CAR buddy system when a colleague is out of the office
  • May require some overtime work as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3-5 years Accounts Receivable (A/R) related experience
  • Accounting, collections, deductions, customer service background
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including MS Office
  • SAP or similar ERP system experience strongly preferred

 KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter, able to perform job duties with minimal supervision
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask
  • Proactive and results oriented

 EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time; ability to answer phones, and utilize a variety of office equipment. Ability to lift a minimum of 15 lbs. and reach overhead.

  • Minimal
