Overview

Dole Packaged Foods is looking for a Staff Accountant that will play a role in an organization that is searching to increase efficiency through innovation and a strong knowledge of Accounting Software while maintaining the accuracy of the financials.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general accounting and analysis.  Prepare journal entries and reconciliations.  Significant amount of data entry also required in order to accomplish these tasks.
  • Provide back up support to warehouse payables and marketing accounting.
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations accurately and timely.
  • Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts accurately and timely.  Resolve reconciling differences with in required timeframe.
  • Prepare and submit financial reports and data required by Corporate, auditors, and other internal and external customers on a timely basis.
  • Work with other departments to ensure general ledger balances are correct, transactions are classified properly and reported accurately, and identify, propose and implement and document improvements to processes and procedures.
  • Support accounting staff in report submissions to Corporate and other departmental agencies in regular activities such as data gathering, report writing, and corporate submissions
  • Prepare bank reconciliations.  Create and book intercompany advices, validate and record incoming intercompany advices from other divisions, and reconcile non-product intercompany balances.
  • Special projects may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of accounting/financial analyst experience.
  • Understanding of GAAP, financial statement preparation, and accounting theory.
  • Must have strong math skills.
  • Knowledge of Excel and Word required.
  • 1 to 2 years experience in public auditing or internal auditing a plus.

 EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business (Accounting preferred)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time; ability to answer phones, and utilize a variety of office equipment. Ability to lift a minimum of 15 lbs. and reach overhead.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Occasional travel required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work extended hours as needed.
