  • Overview

    NOTE: This position is not a permanent full-time position. Depending on assignment to Dole Packaged Foods, the company may elect to offer the successful applicant a full-time position upon the expiration of ninety days or more, but is not required to do so.

     

    The Sales Account Representative receives, reviews and accurately processes customer orders for assigned markets. Invoices orders accurately and timely.  Participates within the Sales Support team in all aspects of customer service and distribution. Ensures total customer satisfaction through management of inventory, transportation, billing, and sales follow up. Monitors and follows up on inventory positioning at forward warehouses.  Works closely with Supply Chain Planning to ensure appropriate inventory levels are placed at warehouses in accordance with customer demand and promotional activity. Develops strong relationships with customers and brokers through direct communication and timely resolution of issues.  Acts as a liaison between customer buying offices and Regional Sales Managers to ensure customer satisfaction.  Sells the quality of Dole by explaining policies, procedures and services that Dole offers. Suggests ways to improve current procedures and service levels through proactive planning.  Provides sales reports and follow up with RSM’s and customer buying offices for critical customers. Work as an extension of the sales team to maintain and increase customer base and case sales.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Reviews, prioritizes, and processes all customer purchase orders received for assigned markets within 24 hours of receipt. Verifies requested items, quantities, pricing, promotions, and other allowances and charges in SAP prior to releasing orders to ship.  Boosts product sales by reminding customers of promotions, offering product substitutions, and suggesting increases in volume for full truck load pricing benefits. 
    • Reviews customer purchase orders and inventory at forward warehouses including incoming stock transfers to ensure inventory is available to fulfill customer orders.  Notifies customers of any shortages in advance of order delivery.
    • Manages customer open order report and ensures that all orders are shipped on time to meet sales targets and avoid customer out-of-stocks, either by customer pick-up or delivery by Dole’s contracted carriers.  Follows up with customers to make pick-up appointments prior to financial period close.  Follows up with carriers regarding late deliveries, and makes every effort to minimize customer out-of-stocks due to late deliveries.
    • Ensures that all orders are processed in accordance with SOX Audit regulations.
    • Manages all sales allocation programs for product shortages, new item roll-outs, or to administer new price increases among customers. 
    • Assist Financial Services in researching, resolving and clearing outstanding billing issues/short pays.
    • Maintains an up-to-date desk manual detailing all procedures relating to the sales order processing and additional customer requirements within their assigned markets.
    • Identifies and recommends to management ways to improve the receipt and processing of orders, inventory distribution, carrier performance and any other area that could potentially present a cost savings or improve service levels to our customers.
    • Participates in ongoing training programs, both internal and external, to stay current on product knowledge and business trends.
    • Actively promotes the positive motivation and development of other sales account reps.  Develops and encourages coworkers through peer coaching and projecting a professional, team player attitude.  Helps to make all Dole associates a cohesive team by demonstrating the benefits of teamwork and service to our internal customers.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Customer service experience preferred
    • SAP experience preferred
    • Intermediate to Advanced Excel a plus
    • Bilingual abilities a plus

    KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

    • Must be organized
    • Must be self-motivated

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • HS diploma required, bachelor’s degree preferred.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time; ability to answer phones, and utilize a variety of office equipment. Ability to lift a minimum of 15 lbs. and reach overhead.

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

    • 0-5 days per month
