  • Overview

    NOTE: This position is not a permanent full-time position. Depending on assignment to Dole Packaged Foods, the company may elect to offer the successful applicant a full-time position upon the expiration of ninety days or more, but is not required to do so.


    Dole Packaged Foods is searching for a Trade Compliance Specialist that will support the Global Trade Compliance department in order to facilitate and ensure compliance with export controls, laws and regulations, and other foreign government agency regulations covering exports primarily to Latin America and assists with importations into the United States.  


    • Interface with buyers, brokers, distributors and Dole entities pertaining to shipment status and delivery schedules.
    • Responsible for the audit and review of international shipping documents to ensure compliance with destination country requirements, and coordinate shipment releases with finance department.
    • Ensure business adheres to foreign legal requirements related to importation of products to foreign countries.
    • Perform operational duties including booking ocean and air shipments from U.S. to Latin America or Caribbean with nominated ocean carriers or freight forwarders.
    • Support in the classification of raw materials and finished goods in accordance to Schedule B and HTSUS.
    • Responsible for coordination of sample shipments via courier service.
    • Coordinate high volume of inbound sample shipments processing from Dole’s manufacturing facilities.
    • Assist with inbound air freight shipments; assist in coordination of exports from Atwater facility and other U.S. warehouses to Latin America, Canada, Asia and Europe
    • Other duties and projects as assigned.



    • 1-2 years of experience in export/import operations
    • Bilingual English / Spanish preferred
    • Working knowledge of U.S. Export Controls/US Customs regulations, routed transactions and Schedule B and HTSUS classification
    • Familiarity with international shipping documents, Incoterms, country of origin, and other trade elements
    • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency with Word and Excel
    • SAP experience preferred


    • Strong verbal and written communication skills (English and Spanish preferred)

    • Strong time management, prioritization and organizational skills
    • Ability to work under tight schedules
    • Willing to assist others when his/her tasks are complete
    • Positively and effectively interact with associates across all levels throughout the organization


    • High School diploma or equivalent required
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred


    • Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time; ability to answer phones, and utilize a variety of office equipment. Ability to lift a minimum of 15 lbs. and reach overhead.


    • Occasional travel may be required
