  • Overview

    Dole Packaged Foods is looking for a Junior Human Resources Generalist to join the team at our U.S. Headquarters office in Westlake Village, CA. In this role, you will support many areas of HR – recruitment, training, compliance, benefits, leaves of absence, administrative support and other projects as assigned, and support the organization’s core values and mission.


    • Responsible for temporary staffing process including recruitment of temporary positions, purchase orders and invoicing, and maintaining contracts and relationships with staffing agencies
    • Create purchase orders, as necessary, for human resources, benefits & payroll
    • Oversee the processing of all employment paperwork to include applicable background screening and other pre-employment activities
    • Assist with recruitment, including scheduling of interviews, for full-time roles reporting into headquarters location and summarizing interview results by soliciting feedback
    • Full ownership of new hire orientation and on-boarding activities, including IT help desk tickets, to assure a smooth transition to the organization; present various new hire orientation topics (company policies, benefits, etc.)
    • Assist in coordination of mandatory harassment training and tracking
    • Serve as point of contact for employees regarding benefits and leave of absence questions
    • Provide benefit program support with communications and other activities during open enrollment period and other mailings
    • Coordinate leave requests and work with third-party administrator
    • Track and monitor performance evaluation program
    • Maintenance of department filing and recordkeeping requirements to include employee files, contracts, org charts and other required documentation
    • Support onboarding and offboarding processes and activities (paperwork, orientation, exit interviews, etc.)
    • Coordinate various HR responsibilities with outside vendors, including unemployment claims, employment verifications, and immigration applications
    • Process and track employee programs such as tuition reimbursement and educational gift matching
    • Administration of Service Award program
    • Ensure compliance to state and federal labor laws, including posting requirements, employee training, etc.
    • Work with department management to develop reporting and metrics
    • Support for Retirement Committee, as needed
    • Answer phones and administrative support
    • Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed to meet the needs of the department or organization



    • 1-2 years of human resources experience including recruitment and some leave of absence experience helpful; interviewing experience a plus
    • Good understanding of general HR practices and employment regulations
    • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office, particularly Excel


    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and utilize discretion – understands the nature of confidential employee information
    • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills that can be utilized in day-to-day interactions with all levels of the workforce

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • aPHR certification preferred


    • Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time; ability to answer phones and utilize a variety of office equipment. Ability to lift a minimum of 15 lbs. and reach overhead.


    • Occasional travel may be required
