  • Overview

    An Area Supervisor is responsible for coordinating with plant and production managers on a daily basis to insure proper scheduling, processing and packaging of products. Insure safe/proper performance by Production Supervisors, Team Leaders, Specialty Operators, Product Handlers and Inspectors.   Achieve optimum production of quality product at efficient costs.

    Responsibilities

    OVERSEE ALL ASPECTS OF OPERATION IN ASSIGNED AREAS.

      • Preparation, start up, process and shut down.
      • Maintain integrity and continuity of process during and between shifts.

    RESPONSIBLE FOR QUALITY AND SPEED OF PROCESS

    • Monitor process and make necessary adjustments.
    • Analyze quality control, process rates and recoveries during and post processing.

    OVERSEE SCHEDULING, PLACEMENT AND SUPERVISION OF EMPLOYEES.

    • Oversee Production Supervisors and Team Leaders in assigned areas.
    • Time card use and labor accounting.
    • Following/enforcement of company policies and rules set forth in Employee Handbook.
    • Maintain safe work methods and areas.
    • Encourage and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
    • Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships; developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
    • Provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance stands and monitoring performance.

     

    COLLECTION, PREPARATION AND REVIEW OF ALL DATA PERTINENT TO PROCESSING.

    • Raw fruit inventories and use.
    • Dry goods and material inventories and use.
    • Recap and review of all process reports.

     

    HANDLE SPECIAL ASSIGNMENTS AS DIRECTED

    • Assist mandatory training courses (AB1825/preventing harassment training, reasonable suspicion recognition training, CPR, forklift training and supervisory skills workshops as required).
    • Follow complaint reporting procedures if you are informed of ANY Harassment/Discriminatory issues, advise Human Resources Director/Manager/Management Staff immediately.
    • Assign duties to maintain adequate staff for effective performance of activities and response to fluctuating workloads.
    • Collaborate with workers and managers to solve work-related problems
    • Transmit and explain work orders/request to employees

    Qualifications

    • Possess a valid California Driver’s License and acceptable driving record (needed to drive Company vehicle to transport injured workers to off-site health care unit as deemed necessary).
    • Prior supervisory experience a plus.
    • Prior experience working in food manufacturing setting, knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
    • Must be able to lead team members effectively.
    • Must be able to communicate fluently in English; Spanish/Hindu a plus.
    • Must be able to communicate well with others (Management, Supervisors, peers or subordinates).
    • Must be able to take orders and follow directions from Plant Production.
    • Manger with regards to manufacturing requirements.
    • Forklift experience preferred, or ability to complete forklift certification training course.
    • Experience with MS office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) a plus.
    • Experience with time and attendance systems (Novatime).
    • CPR certification a plus, or ability to complete on-site training course.

    Supervisory Duties:

    • Production Supervisors, Team Leaders, Specialty Operators, Production Handlers and Inspectors.

     

    Work Environment:

    • Assigned areas will include outdoors, indoors, hot, cold and noisy areas.
    • Industrial plant environment with related noises and temperatures

    Physical Requirements:

      • Must be able to pass job specific Physical Ability Test (PAT)
      • Temperatures range from 40° to 50°degree Fahrenheit
      • Noise produced by manufacturing machinery up to 92 decibels
      • Must be able to climb stairs up to 20ft daily  
      • Must be able to do repetitive movements of bending, reaching up to 54” overhead and forward up to 24”, squatting, and pushing & pulling an average weight of 40 - 44 lbs.
      • Must be able to lift up to 62 pounds
      • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time on concrete and/or metal grating
      • Requires climbing, standing, stooping, twisting, lifting and other physical movements to perform job
