Position reports to the Senior Domestic Transportation Manager at Dole Packaged Foods and is part of the Dole domestic Transportation team. The Logistics Analytics Manager occupies a lead role in the managing of financial and capacity planning strategy for Dole’s domestic transportation. This role is responsible for monthly/quarterly transportation reporting to Senior Leaders and oversees Dole’s end-to-end freight pay process. This position has oversight over carrier management strategy via TMS routing guide administration and strategic carrier relationship management.

This role can be based as a hybrid position at our Westlake Village CA office or remotely in any of the following eligible locations: AR, AZ, CA, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, KY, MA, ME, MI, MO, NC, NJ, NY, OK, PA, RI, TX, UT, WI.

Primary Accountabilities:

 Routing Guide + RFP, Carrier Rates:

• Active routing guide management for full truckload dry and frozen shipments, dry and frozen intermodal, and dry and frozen LTL.
  • Partner and collaborate with 3PL firms and asset-based carriers to systematically plan outbound transportation capacity for Dole warehouses through the TMS routing guide.
  • Participate in strategic carrier reviews, rate negotiations, and carrier selection through annual TL & LTL transportation bids and as needed mini bids.
  • Leverage TMS dashboards for carrier scorecards to identify carriers not meeting on time delivery and tender acceptance targets to implement performance improvement plan or re-procurement of transportation capacity.

Analysis:

• Expand on the current transportation rate analysis methodology using Dole’s TMS financial data, market benchmarks, carrier rates and or customer requested CPU rate allowances.
  • Anticipate becoming the subject matter expert of TMC’s Navisphere TMS reporting through business intelligence dashboards powered through QlikView.
  • Use SAP ERP for intelligence and data downloads to upstream order management processes that impact transportation operations and transportation costs.
  • Perform line haul, fuel, and accessorial analysis as pricing contracts expire.

Freight Pay:

• Oversee the effectiveness and monthly/yearly costs of Dole’s end-to-end freight pay process.
  • Collaborate with carrier billing department, FMI, and CASS in the accurate billing of line haul, fuel surcharge and accessorials.
  • Manage strategic freight pay service provider relationships on behalf of Dole with FMI and CASS.
  • Execute (approve or deny) or delegate to Dole transportation owner the weekly freight bill authorization files for TL and LTL.
  • Accessorial bill authorization dispute resolution for dwell charges, detention/layover, reverse logistics scenarios.

Operations:

• Update transportation management KPI reports monthly for fuel spends and outlook, line haul spends and outlook, routing guide depth, truckload utilization and actual transportation costs vs budget and forecast.
• Provide back up support to the domestic transportation operations team with carrier coverage and delivery tracking for both freight-to-customer and freight-to-warehouse shipment.
• Continually reviewing the actual open orders and planned shipments for opportunities in consolidation and/or in reducing total cost of a shipment.
• Interest in learning Blue Yonder software and network design techniques to test real time throughout Dole’s dry packaged network and perform distribution network analysis to determine optimal shipping location for destination customers.

Experience, Knowledge, & Skills You Bring:

• Minimum 5 years of transportation/logistics operations experience or other relevant experience required
• Minimum of 3 years logistics analytics experience leveraging Excel to move fast
• Minimum of 2 years work experience managing a shipper’s routing guide across various modes of transportation (TL, IMDL and LTL)
• Strong analytical capabilities for reviewing large amounts of data to summarize for management and identifying the critical issues at both the summary and the detail level. 
• Intermediate and advanced MS Excel skills to manage and analyze carrier rates
• Comfortable manipulating large shipment level data set exports from TMS
• Strong user of MS PowerPoint to summarize monthly reporting in combination with excel reporting
• Prior experience using an integrated ERP system and a TMS is preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Zoom

Education & Certification:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in business (finance, economics, operations management), supply chain, logistics, or a related field is required.
• MBA is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time; ability to answer phones and utilize a variety of office equipment. Ability to lift a minimum of 15 lbs. and reach overhead.

Travel Requirements:

• Occasional travel may be required.
