The Plant Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring maximum uptime for production equipment in a cost-effective manner and meeting capital improvement cost and timeline objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate, implement, and manage the plant maintenance program based on best practices in the frozen food industry, with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance.
  • Monitor the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary.
  • Establish and maintain a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment.
  • Prepare reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems.
  • Ensure that maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
  • Supervise and participate in the development and administration of maintenance department's budget; direct the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor approved expenditures; implement mid-year adjustments
  • Communicate regularly with all maintenance technicians, both individually and as a group, to ensure good two-way communication concerning maintenance issues.
  • Maintain and updates operating and training manuals for the maintenance department.
  • Ensure that all maintenance technicians are trained on the most updated version of the operating procedures.
  • Review operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate solve problems in a timely manner, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Initiate and carry out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
  • Track, analyze and improve key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, schedule compliance.
  • Maintain safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to the maintenance department are met at all times.
  • Direct, maintain, and enforce the safety program for the maintenance department; reviews safety records to uphold standards of maximum safety for all maintenance technicians.
  • Communicate directly with the operations department to coordinate maintenance and repair work in process areas.
  • Drive start up efforts at the facility; lead the maintenance group during checkout and commissioning of the facility.
  • Recommend whether capital projects should be implemented in-house or by outside contractors.
  • Supervise execution of capital projects to ensure adherence to project timelines and cost projections.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in consumer goods manufacturing
  • 5+ years supervisory or management experience
  • Experience in frozen food manufacturing preferred
  • Organizational and management practices as applied to the analysis and evaluation of programs, policies, and operations.
  • Modern principles of maintenance program development and administration.
  • Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations 
  • Principles and practices of organization and administration
  • Principles and practices of budget preparation and administration.
  • Principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation.

Education & Certification:    

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Business Administration strongly preferred

Work Environment:   

  • Temperature controlled manufacturing environment (frozen fruit); maintenance shop and office environments

  • Must be able to climb stairs, lift and twist as needed. 
  • Ability to sit and use the computer for extended periods of time; ability to answer phones and use a variety of office equipment; ability to lift 15 pounds and reach overhead.
  • Must be able to bend/stoop/squat/twist/kneel and turn throughout workday, for varying lengths of time.
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms below shoulder level to above shoulder level.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders.

Travel Requirements:

  • Estimated 15-20% of travel
