The Director, Sales Strategy & Shopper Marketing will lead the architecture of portfolio strategy, including launch and deployment of new products, with a clear plan to launch support, customer reach, and geography. The role will also provide overall leadership in shopper marketing at key strategic customers and provide the team with direction for their category.

 

This role provides flexibility to work in a hybrid environment of home and our Westlake Village, CA office (2-3x/week).

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coach, and mentor a team of Senior Sales Strategy Managers
  • Acts as chief strategist, clearly provides architecture of portfolio strategy and presents it clearly and professionally.
  • Create strategy for launch and deployment of new products, with a clear plan to launch support, customer reach, and geography
  • Leads shopper marketing ownership, team is responsible for budget creation and management (total shopper spend/by account/category); analyzing performance of shopper marketing plans; managing Digital/Ecomm customer marketing by partnering with Marketing on strategy and provide team with direction on creative needs; ensuring alignment to promotional strategy, direction of shopper marketing agency.
  • Ensures shopper marketing communication between Marketing, Field Sales, and Finance
  • Owns the national commercial execution for the Dole portfolio
  • Acts as the primary communicator and facilitator of trade between the finance and field sales team; understands best practices in trade deployment and how to overlay shopper marketing initiatives to maximize growth
  • Works with Category Management and Marketing on product portfolio and strategy for the base business (execute transition plan by retailer, including new and discontinued product management & deploys portfolio strategy to Field Sales)
  • Supports team in the development and presentation of category and customer performance in period reviews, annual and three year planning
  • Leads the following for innovation launches: provides forecast consolidation for new items, executes new item launches, communicates launch details to Field Sales including product details, sales story and launch timelines
  • Develops and manages overall budget for slotting
  • Leads national category volume forecasting, including new item launch projects, as well as rolling up total category
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Experience, Knowledge, & Skills You Bring: 

  • 8-10+ years experience driving sales strategy in a FMCG environment
  • Strong leadership skills – experience leading a team of direct reports
  • Clear communication and strong presentation skills – both oral and written
  • Headquarter shopper marketing and/or branded marketing experience preferred
  • Highly developed skillset within Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong financial acumen, including in-depth financial analysis and result impact to business
  • Expert-level analytical ability using proprietary and syndicated data sources
  • Formal experience in sales planning, category analytics and shopper marketing/e-commerce

Education & Certification:

  • Bachelors degree required
  • MBA preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and use the computer for extended periods of time; ability to answer phones and use a variety of office equipment; ability to lift 15 pounds and reach overhead.

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 10-20% travel as needed

FOR JOBS BASED IN CALIFORNIA:

Hiring Pay Scale: $175,000 to $195,000

The pay rate offered will consider a wide range of factors, including but not limited to experience, education, accomplishments, and location.
