The Cost Accounting Manager will provide financial leadership by supplying plant and corporate management accurate and timely financial data as well as analysis and recommended actions to identify and correct inefficient operations resulting in lower operating costs. 

 

This role will be based as an on-site position at our McDonough, GA location.

Responsibilities

  • Challenge assumptions and seek/support cost improvements in plant, be an active contributor to improvement projects and initiatives, validate and review proposed savings. Partner with Engineering/production teams to manage costs and review capital proposals.
  • Business Partner to Plant Manager
  • Compile reporting of actuals and ensure transparency of this process; follow and monitor progress to close gaps, ensuring financial controls are established and followed. Contribute to tracking and forecasting by savings initiative(s) identified.
  • Participate in business planning; prepare and coordinate the plant budget with factory management; Perform revisions or simulations in needed. Work with team(s) to develop new product costing in accordance with costing standards.
  • Ensure full transparency of costs and financial impact to the organization of major or strategic decisions relating to the plant.
  • Develops and maintains standards for BOM’s and various costing templates. Develops and maintains labor and indirect cost application rates.
  • Daily review of production Process Orders. Prepares daily, weekly, Period and ad hoc reports of labor and material usage variances against standards.
  • Presentations of variance analysis to Management, i.e., absorption variances, PPV.
  • Work with inventory management team to retain inventory accuracy and appropriate financial SLOB reserve.
  • Support annual audit particularly as it pertains to costing and inventory.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience as a cost accountant, on-site plant experience strongly preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft skills (Excel, Word)
  • Must have proven experience with SAP, Material Ledger experience preferred

Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and use the computer for extended periods of time; ability to answer phones and utilize a variety of office equipment. Ability to lift a minimum of 15 lbs. and reach overhead.

Travel Requirements:

  • Some travel may be required.
