This role is a key member of the cross-functional business team, developing and executing the national sales strategy, shopper marketing and fiscal year plan for the assigned categories. The role reports to the Director, Sales Strategy. The Senior Sales Strategy Manager will be the liaison to communicate and facilitate the development and execution of best-in-class new item launch plans and supporting shopper marketing campaigns.  A key contributor for Stage Gate, accountability for effective selling stories and presentations. The candidate will work on multiple food-related categories (i.e.: Snacking, Pantry, Beverages and Frozen, Novelties).

This role provides flexibility to work in a hybrid environment of home and our Westlake Village, CA office. (Hybrid is defined as 3 times per week in the office).

Responsibilities

  • Internally owns the market for assigned category – articulates the voice of the customer to the internal team, and conversely brings the vision of the category to the Field Sales/Customer team
  • Works with Category Management, Revenue Management and Marketing on product portfolio and portfolio strategy for the base business (execute transition plan by retailer, including new and discontinued product management & deploys portfolio strategy to Field Sales)
  • Develop and present category performance in period reviews and annual planning
  • Consults with Field Sales for integrated planning of Category level Trade and Shopper plans
  • Develops, executes, and analyzes performance of shopper marketing plan by account/category
  • Manage Digital/Ecomm customer marketing; work with Marketing on creative needs
  • Ensures shopper marketing is aligned to promotional strategy
  • Manages shopper marketing budget (total shopper spend/by account/category)
  • Build launch strategy; identify retailers to target and the why behind it; vet with capacity and financial planning
  • Manage national category forecasting including new item launch projections, as well as rolling up total category
  • Manages the following for innovation launches: provides forecast consolidation for new items, executes new item launches, communicates launch details to Field Sales including product details, sales story and launch timelines
  • Manages slotting budget
  • Consult on annual SKU management plans
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience working with North American packaged goods categories
  • Headquarter and field sales and/or branded marketing experience preferred
  • Highly developed skillset within Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong financial acumen, including in-depth financial analysis and result impact to business
  • Expert-level analytical ability using proprietary and syndicated data sources
  • Formal experience in sales planning and category analytics

Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • MBA preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and use the computer for extended periods of time; ability to answer phones and use a variety of office equipment; ability to lift 15 pounds and reach overhead.

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 10-20% travel expected

FOR JOBS BASED IN CALIFORNIA:

Hiring Pay Scale: $140,000 to $160,000
