The Micro Lab Assistant position assists with the receipt of samples, labeling of samples received, and completion of paperwork associated with samples received in Analytical Lab. Some custodial work.

Primary Accountabilities:

• Responsible to conform to all requirements and standards as specified by the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard
• Responsible to comply with all Quality and Food Safety Management standards and/or systems to ensure continual improvement and effectiveness of the Food Safety Management System with the ability to satisfy our customers and provide products that are in accordance to their intended use and safe for human consumption
• Prepare media as required
• Follow company policies
• Follow safety procedures
• Assist with inventory counts/orders
• Responsible in assisting with taking daily temperatures following process in MAM-1008 Equipment Temperature Monitoring along with completing Micro 005 Temperature Monitoring Form
• Receipt, record and disposal of samples MAM-1006 Receipt and Disposal of Product Samples
• Responsible for obeying all safety, health, sanitation, lab rules and policies including MAM-1013 Chemical Hygiene Plan, MAM-3005 Electric Autoclave Maintenance all sections, and MAM-1006 Receipt and Disposal of Product Samples
• Accurately complete Sample Analysis Forms, Compilation Forms, Recording Form, GLP’s, Analytical Laboratory Record Review Form.
• Maintain spreadsheets associated with samples received and samples in testing process
• Scanning and verification.
• Perform other duties as assigned by lab manager

Experience, Knowledge, & Skills You Bring:       

• Laboratory experience a plus, but not required
• Must be able to identify cleaning products
• Must be able to learn, understand and carry out instructions regarding the job and safety procedures in microbiology laboratory
• Must be able to communicate with other employees, visitors, vendors, and management
• Must be able to work any shift including weekends; overtime as needed
• Reliable attendance is an essential function of the job
• Be able to work independently inside and outside the laboratory
• Basic computer skills a plus
• Must have English reading/writing proficiency
• Must have PC skills, proficiency in Windows, Microsoft office applications, emailing
• Must be able to work independently
• Must have competent math skills
• Read and follow written instructions carefully.
• Assist in special projects assigned by laboratory management which may require calculations, computations, creative design, and critical thinking skills.

Education & Certification:

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to work on feet for extended periods of time, climb stairs and walk at least 1200 feet unassisted
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds
• Requires climbing, standing, stooping, twisting, lifting and other physical movements to perform job.

Work Environment:

• Industrial environment with related noise and temperatures.
