We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Accounting to join our team. The Director of Accounting is responsible for overseeing core accounting functions and ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely financial operations. This leadership role focuses on general ledger management, internal controls, process improvement and systems optimization, and cross-functional reporting and support. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with deep accounting expertise and a strong ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.

This role provides flexibility to work in a hybrid environment of home and our Westlake Village, CA office. (Hybrid is defined as 3 times per week in the office).

Responsibilities

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Oversee the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and IFRS.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Communicate complex accounting issues in a clear and concise manner to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous process improvements to increase the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of accounting operations.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor strong internal control policies and procedures to ensure compliance with JSOX and other regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks through oversight of key controls and reconciliations.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and development opportunities to the accounting team.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support business initiatives and drive financial performance.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards and ensure organizational compliance with evolving GAAP, IFRS and statutory requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience, Knowledge, & Skills You Bring:       

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, preferably within the CPG industry
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and financial reporting requirements
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a high performing team
  • Proficiency in accounting software (SAP preferred) and Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic accounting/financial plans.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • High level of integrity and professionalism
  • Strong presentation skills

Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA (active or inactive) required

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and use the computer for extended periods of time; ability to answer phones and use a variety of office equipment; ability to lift 15 pounds and reach overhead.

Travel Requirements:

  • Approximately 10% travel is expected.

Hiring Pay Scale: $185,000 to $210,000

The pay rate offered will consider a wide range of factors, including but not limited to experience, education, accomplishments, and location. Pay scales are subject to review on a regular basis and will be updated as appropriate.
