The Director of Commercial Finance serves as a key financial partner to Sales, Marketing, and Revenue Growth Management (RGM), overseeing the full P&L across customers, brands, and channels. This role is pivotal in enabling strategic decisions by providing comprehensive visibility into margin drivers, validating the financial impact of commercial initiatives, and delivering timely forecasts and variance analysis. The Director ensures that profitability is at the forefront of pricing, promotion, and innovation strategies, driving sustainable growth and financial performance.

 

This role provides flexibility to work in a hybrid environment of home and our Westlake Village, CA office. (Hybrid is defined as 3 times per week in the office).

Responsibilities

Customer/Channel-Level P&L Analysis:

  • Own the tracking and explanation of revenue, trade spend, COGS, and distribution costs by customer, brand, and channel to identify profit opportunities.

Validation of Commercial Decisions:

  • Pressure-test innovation, pricing, and promotional plans to ensure alignment with margin goals and strategic priorities.

Financial Forecasting and Budget Alignment:

  • Lead the building and updating of topline forecasts and brand/channel budgets in partnership with Marketing, Sales, and RGM.

Performance Commentary and Insights:

  • Prepare executive-ready analysis explaining drivers of P&L variances and flagging risks or gaps to plan.

Innovation and Portfolio Decisions:

  • Lead the financial modeling of innovation business cases and contribute to SKU rationalization by identifying underperforming items.

Team Management:

  • Manage and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Ensure team members are aligned with strategic goals and equipped with the necessary skills and resources to deliver on their responsibilities.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to support professional growth and development.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Experience, Knowledge, & Skills You Bring:       

  • 10+ years of experience in commercial finance, financial planning and analysis, or related roles, preferably within the CPG industry.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop a team.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners.

Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • An MBA or relevant advanced degree is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and use the computer for extended periods of time; ability to answer phones and use a variety of office equipment; ability to lift 15 pounds and reach overhead.

Travel Requirements:

  • Occasional travel may be required

FOR JOBS BASED IN CALIFORNIA:

Hiring Pay Scale: $185,000 to $205,000

Dole Packaged Foods is committed to paying our Associates fairly and equitably. The pay rate offered will consider a wide range of factors, including but not limited to experience, education, accomplishments, and location. Pay scales are subject to review on a regular basis and will be updated as appropriate.
